In 1952-1953, Sis.
Mary E. Howe, Grand Worthy Matron of Burns No. 31 Maysville, recommended and
it was adopted, that Cecelia Dunlap Grand Chapter established a Scholarship
Fund for High School Graduates and give monetary awards.
It was also decided the first disbursements would
not be made until 1955 when the fund had at least reached One Thousand
Dollars ($1000.00). This amount was to come from the interest on the Savings
Account and a yearly tax of fifty cents from each Eastern Star member.
The Scholarship tax has increased over the years
from the fifty cents to the present Two Dollars.
The Scholarship Fund receives a yearly donation from
the Copeland Chambers of Diamonds and Prince Hall Grand Lodge.
Proceedings show
