The first Public
Relation Chairman was Sis. Ima Jean Willis, who was appointed in 1963-1965
by Sis. Vivian Taylor, G.W.M.
Sis. Sarah Blincoe was appointed in 1965-1967 by Sis. Lillian B.
Morris. This was the year The Star Gazer was born.
The name was suggested by Sis. Willie R. Welborn and approved by
the Grand Board in Frankfort, Kentucky in 1966.
There were no costs
because the issues were not published regularly.
The Honored Grand Secretary and Sis. Blincoe compiled the news and
carried the copies to the District Meetings where they were sold to Eastern
Star members.
Their hope at the time was
to have a Printing House as the Indiana Jurisdiction.
1967-1969-Sis. Julia C.
Parish was appointed Publish Relations Chairperson by Sis.
Ovetta T. Basey,
Grand Worthy Matron.
1969-1971- Sis. Johnella
Jackson was appointed by Sis. Hattie, L.Taylor, Grand Worthy Matron.
1971-1973- Sis. Willie M.
Ball was appointed by Sis. Louise T. Bell, Grand Worthy Matron.
1973-1975-
Bro. Walter T.
Bradley was appointed Editor and Sis. Willie M. Ball, the Publisher
Distributor by Sis. Louise T. Bell, Grand Worthy Matron.
1975-1977- Bro. Walter
T. Bradley was Editor and Sis. Willie M. Richards was Public Relations
Chairman.
It was in 1977 that “The Star Gazer” was incorporated and was being sent
through the mail.
The highest distribution was two thousand four hundred twenty-nine
copies.
The printing was being done in the office of Bro. Bradley and the Grand
Chapter paid for the postage.
The Grand Chapter made donations to the “The Star Gazer” from time
to time.

At this present time “The
Star Gazer” is no longer in publication.
In an effort to keep
communications flowing in the jurisdiction, the Most Worshipful Prince Hall
Grand Lodge and Cecelia Dunlap Grand Chapter agreed to a joint publication.
A contest was held throughout the jurisdiction for the name of the new
publication.
The quarterly publication was named “The Masonic Messenger”. The
committee members were: Sis. Betty Bell. Sis. Charlotte May, Bro. Robert
Harrison, Bro. Eugene Wickliffe; Sis. Ann Goode, Bro. Hugh Harlan, Bro.
Donald Croom and Sis. Felecia Ballard.
It was printed once in September of 2005.
Due to printing cost, it was not feasible to print.
